LIP

A. LARGE LIP CORRECTION

WHAT IS LARGE LIP CORRECTION?

Large lip correction is a procedure in which the size of the lips is reduced by removing excess tissue.

WHY OPT FOR LARGE LIP CORRECTION?

The procedure is often considered by individuals who feel that their lips are disproportionately large. The procedure may be performed for patients who have naturally large lips, or who are unhappy with the results of a previous lip augmentation procedure.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

It is quite normal to experience some minor swelling and discomfort following the procedure. Dr September will prescribe pain medication if necessary and advise you on how to manage any pain, swelling, bruising or redness in the treatment area.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

Once the procedure has been completed, Dr September will bandage your ears to protect them while they heal. You might feel some mild discomfort, in which case Dr September will prescribe pain medications.

You will need to keep pressure off your ears while they heal, so you should avoid sleeping on your side and rubbing the incisions.

A few days following the procedure, you will visit Dr September for a follow-up appointment, at which time he will remove your bandages. It is quite normal to experience some swelling at this stage. Dr September will advise you on how to care for your ears and let you know when you are able to resume your usual activities.

B. LIP AUGMENTATION WITH LIP FILLING

WHAT IS LIP AUGMENTATION?

Lip augmentation is a procedure in which the appearance of the lips are enhanced with the use of implants for a plumper, more youthful appearance.

WHY OPT FOR LIP AUGMENTATION?

The procedure is highly effective for individuals with thin lips who would like to enhance their overall appearance and achieve fuller, more shapely lips.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

During the procedure, Dr September will make small incisions in the lips, most often at the corners of the mouth. He will then create a narrow tunnel in which the implant will be inserted. The lip implant will be threaded into the lip and trimmed to the proper length before the incisions are stitched closed.

There are a number of implant types that may be used. Dr September will advise you of the best option for you, based on your desired outcome.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

You may experience some minor swelling following surgery, which should subside within a few days. Dr September will prescribe pain medication if necessary and advise you on how to manage any pain, swelling, bruising or redness in the treatment area.
